Exploring AI Photo Processing Tools as a New Photographer
As a new photographer, I've been exploring different tools and techniques to help me improve my craft. Recently, I decided to experiment with some AI photo-processing tools to see how they could help me in my journey.
The first tool I tried was Aftershoot. This software uses AI to cull photos, identifying blurry or duplicate photos, as well as photos with closed eyes. It also suggests which photos are highlights. While it seems to be primarily geared toward people photography, the developers claim that it works for landscapes as well. I found that it worked quite well for my images, but I realized that I need to take more photos to make this investment worthwhile. Additionally, since I am still discovering my creative style, I run the risk of discarding photos that I would otherwise want to use.
The second tool I tried was Luminar Neo, which relies on AI to process photos. It has many similar functions to Lightroom, but I found the interface to be somewhat clunky. There are many presets available to process your photos, but I noticed that the AI tends to add a strong vignette to every photo. After some experimentation, I figured out how to tone this down a bit. However, I have decided to stop using this software for now because I am still developing my skills as a photographer and I want to be able to learn and express my creativity without relying on AI to process my photos.
Overall, my experience with these AI photo-processing tools has been mixed. While they can be helpful in certain situations, I've come to realize that they are not a substitute for developing my own skills and creative vision as a photographer. In fact, using these tools can sometimes be a hindrance to my learning and self-expression. As such, I plan to be more judicious in my use of AI photo-processing tools moving forward, focusing on using them to supplement my skills rather than replace them.
DJI Mini 3 Pro SDK Expected Release - April 2023
Great news for photographers and other professionals who use the DJI Mini 3 drone! The much-anticipated SDK for the Mini 3 series has finally been announced. This means that third-party developers like DroneDeploy can integrate their software with the device, allowing for a world of new business opportunities.
One of the most exciting applications of this new technology is photogrammetry. Photogrammetry is a technique that uses photographs to create 3D models or maps of real-world objects or environments. By taking multiple overlapping photos of a subject from different angles and using software to analyze the images, it is possible to create highly accurate 3D models or maps.
With the new SDK, pilots can automate their photogrammetry work, saving time and increasing efficiency. This will allow them to take on more projects and expand their businesses. The SDK will also help to save money by increasing the lifespan of the drone's batteries, which can cost around $150 each.
The SDK is expected to be released in April 2023, so stay tuned for more information about this exciting new development in drone technology!
Return to Live Streaming
As a part of my plan to showcase my FPV freestyle and racing skills, I will resume my Twitch/YouTube streaming after a much-needed hiatus. During this break, I took the time to reset my priorities and refocus on my goals. I'm looking forward to sharing my journey with my audience and engaging with other pilots and photographers who are passionate about this craft.
Furthermore, I will stream the processing of my RAW files, update my website, and work towards achieving my business goals. I believe that sharing my workflow with others will not only help me stay accountable but also inspire them to pursue their creative endeavors.
If you're interested in learning more about FPV racing or drone photography, I encourage you to stop by. I will be live from 6:30 AM to 11 AM Pacific Standard Time, with a 30-minute break at 8 AM to bring my daughter to school. I am excited to catch up with old friends and meet new ones who share my passion for this amazing hobby.
A week with Turtle
This week was quite productive for me! I had the opportunity to shoot a few times in my hometown, which was great because I didn't have to go very far. The almond orchards were in full bloom, and even though I'm allergic, I couldn't help but admire the beauty of the scenery.
Due to some family circumstances, I had to stay close to home, but it was a nice change of pace. I didn't have to travel far to get to the locations I wanted to shoot.
In anticipation of my return to streaming, I made some improvements to my office, and I'm excited to share my journey with my audience. I also worked on my business plan for Turtle Drone Solutions this week. I explored different options for lead generation, and I'm hoping to improve my approach in the coming days. It's important to me to develop my business skills as well as my photography skills.
All in all, this week was a great success, and I'm looking forward to what's to come!
I can tell. You’re really multitalented turtle. Going to request some help with BtP magazine. You’ve been chosen.
